As an online developer and consultant, I’m constantly finding out new skills. Skillshare Buffer… to stay up to date with the trade and make customers pleased. To do so, I’ve relied greatly on online knowing over the past 5 years. Generally, when I want to learn something brand-new, I just go to YouTube and type in a question and expect the best.
The majority of the time, I get videos taught by “specialists” with endless ad breaks and pitches to buy their product. I imply, what else can you anticipate from “free courses.” Recently, fed up with the poor quality and doubtful knowledge shared on totally free platforms, I relied on an online learning platform I keep hearing a lot about: Skillshare.
Impressed by Skillshare’s premium free classes, I signed up for an annual membership (and scored a 40% discount, more on that in the Skillshare prices area) and dove deeper into the Skillshare courses used to premium members.
I will share my experience as a Skillshare student here in this in-depth review. While some reviews for online courses tend to be regurgitations of sales pages, whatever you will check out comes directly from my own experience as a passionate learner.
If you are searching for a TLDR version of this evaluation, here it is:
The sheer quantity of new material that is added to the platform weekly is enough to keep even the busiest of brains engaged. Whether you want to pick up a brand-new ability to make your resume shine, change your house, or master a pastime “just for the hell of it,” you can quickly find dozens of chances to level up your repertoire. Further, Skillshare’s generous payment plans for instructors means that there’s no lack of outstanding instructors developing high-quality and new material frequently.
Now, if only there was more time in the day to discover it all!
Neighborhoods of similar students
When you have niche interests like Board Game Design or Floral Embroideries, feeling part of a peer-group can be hard. Between Skillshare’s Groups, Workshops, and differed instructors, you’re opening a gold mine of opportunity for connection and community structure. This is a big perk for us “nerds” to feel part of something bigger than our own private efforts AND it permits us to discover not just from the experts, but from each other.
Easy to use all around
It took me all of 5 minutes to create my account, login, browse for material I’m interested in, and find a course that fit the bill. I was diving deep into my very first course in less than 20 minutes, excited to discover even more content to devour.
Kudos to Skillshare for making a quickly accessible desktop AND mobile platform, and for including a start/stop performance that synchronizes across gadgets.
Between the capability to “preferred” excellent teachers and save Skillshare classes to individualized lists, not to mention the Discovery section of the Skillshare app, I am never ever for desire of new product to learn. And the truth that I get to find out on MY schedule makes Skillshare the equivalent of the 100 emoji.

The Downsides (Cons) of Skillshare
These are the primary downsides of Skillshare:
Not fully accessible
Not every teacher ROCKS
The ads are irritating, so you’ll want to pay
Not totally accessible
As I was evaluating courses and building my Skillshare review, I was continuously dissatisfied by the absence of closed captioning offered on the videos. This basically makes the platform difficult to utilize for those who are hearing impaired and not able to read lips. Minus points for exclusivity!
Not every teacher ROCKS
The difference in quality of trainers can be a continual obstacle on your way to knowledge gain. Considering that having the ability to teach successfully is a hard-won ability in it of itself, it would be naive to think that every trainer on the platform excels at the basics of mentor.
A good quality indication is the variety of trainees a course has hosted, as greater numbers tend to correlate with higher quality instructors. However, this isn’t constantly the case– some courses are just niche enough to not interest the “masses” anyway.
Conclusion: is Skillshare Worth it?
The possibility to learn for learning’s sake is reason enough for me to peacefully announce that Skillshare is worth it. The hands-on jobs and capability to connect with others, including professionals in your desired fields of knowledge, makes the $14 a month charge a deal. The onus is on YOU to identify which courses would bring you the most value, whether you aim to bolster your resume with gleaming competitive abilities or assert yourself as a professional enthusiast.
Skillshare members can acquire far more than simply new skills from the courses. You’ll fall in love with discovering again, fulfill experienced and inspired peers that will challenge and motivate you, and may find yourself addicted (nay, consumed!) with acquiring knowledge.

Visual students may think about browsing course choices by seeing the Job Gallery in your Skillshare account.
